ABOUT US


The British Committee for Standards in Haematology produces evidence based guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of haematological disease and blood transfusion.  A sub-committee of the British Society for Haematology, BCSH comprises of four main Task Forces each representing one of the four main clinical areas: General Haematology, Haemostasis and Thrombosis, Haemato-oncology and Blood Transfusion.

 

There is also a fifth Task Force, the Laboratory and Clinical Practice Committee, which provides guidance on aspects of haematological clinical and laboratory practice not covered by the other Task Forces.

 

All guidelines are reviewed by a sounding board of consultant haematologists and clinical scientists practicing in the UK.  Details of the membership of the Task Forces, sounding boards and of the BCSH Executive Committee can be found below.

BCSH EXECUTIVE COMITTEE

Oversees BCSH on behalf of the British Society for Haematology

GENERAL HAEMATOLOGY TASK FORCE

Responsible for guidelines on the non-malignant haematological disorders

HAEMATO-ONCOLOGY TASK FORCE

Responsible for guidelines on the treatment of malignant haematological disease

HAEMOSTASIS AND THROMBOSIS TASK FORCE

Responsible for guidelines on haematological disorders relating to haemostasis and thrombosis

TRANSFUSION TASK FORCE

Responsible for guidelines on all matters relating to transfusion

CLINICAL AND LABORATORY PRACTICE COMMITTEE

Represents BCSH on consultations to do with the professional aspects of clinical and laboratory practice in haematology.
