GUIDELINE FORMATS

Evidence-Based Guideline with Systematic Review: an evidence-based guideline developed by primary systematic review by the BCSH.  In some circumstances it may be considered suitable to limit the search terms of the systematic review.

Evidence-Based Guideline: a guideline referencing other previously published evidence-based guidelines produced by systematic review, for example international guidelines.

Guidance and Recommendations can also be produced. These are shorter documents in relation to defined aspects of clinical and laboratory practice for which there is a weak evidence base but for which a degree of consensus or uniformity is likely to be beneficial to patient care.
